If you’re fortunate enough to be the proud owner of an Android-powered tablet, then you’ll doubtless be interested in a new app that drops a customisable app tray onto your homescreen.
The brand-spanking Wizz Bar appears as a barely perceivable collection of dots on your Honeycomb tablet’s homescreen until you tap them, whereupon they spring to life in a cornucopia of colours, icons and barely concealed Android joy… Well, let’s just say touching beneath the dots makes the tray pop up on your homescreen, filled with your most-used/favourite/whatever apps you care to choose.
To add apps, you just open the Wizz Bar configuration tool and click ‘add’ before selecting the apps you want to include in our bar, you can even add any system activity or launcher action. And Wizz Bar isn’t just available from the homescreen either – it can be pulled up from anywhere, within another app for example, simply by tapping the same spot as you would on the homescreen.
Wizz Bar has a few quirks but it’s also days old, so we didn’t expect all the creases to have been ironed out from day one. As an alternative to the hard-wired app tray widget that appears on some tablet devices (and isn’t customisable) Wizz Bar offers plenty to get excited about. And it’s free of course…
