There are a lot of apps on various markets today. Some are useful. Some are not. The point is, there are a lot. That makes the claim of “most ridiculous app ever” a bold one. Who knows, maybe I’m wrong, but I’m willing to to go out on a limb and say that iFries has earned that distinction in grand fashion.
The complex way in which iFries is ridiculous is fascinating. The concept is inane to the extreme – virtual french fries. You can put salt on them, or shake them around. You can eat them using an iFork or your finger. That is, take them off the screen. Eating them means dragging them off screen. There is a small bowl of ketchup in one of the pictures. I don’t know if dipping is involved. If you’re not a ketchup fan, don’t worry – maybe ranch will be available later via in-app purchase. You can also change the color of the fork, or which serving container is used. Which is cool, I guess.
But an inane app isn’t necessarily ridiculous. You would expect an app like this to have a pretty lackluster presentation, but time was actually taken to put in HD visuals and sounds, including photorealistic fries. Effort was put into this.
Then, there’s the icing on the cake, or the salt on the fries, or whatever. In the most ridiculous turn of events yet, this app isn’t free. Incredibly, you’ll need to pay $0.99 to not eat french fries. Or, you could just hit the Golden Arches and get real fries. Choice is yours.
