Steve “Woz” Wozniak, the Apple co-founder who helped build Apple’s first computer, has always been a bit of a gadget agnostic, using both iOS and Android devices. However, it looks like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus may finally win Woz over thanks to the bigger screens offered by both new smartphones.
Speaking to TMZ—yup, that TMZ—during a brief on-camera interview Woz claimed he’s already ditched all his Android devices in anticipation of Apple’s new iPhones. Here’s what Wozniak said when asked what he likes about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus:
Also we now have the big screens. I’ve shared Android and Apple phones for a long time to found out how they work and I’ve always liked the bigger screens to tell you the truth. So I got rid of all my Androids.
Woz also seems pretty excited about Apple Pay, even though the new mobile payments platform won’t launch until next month. He’s used similar tap-to-pay services in the past, but notes that this is the first time there will be a “critical mass” of people making mobile payments.
Finally, Wozniak notes that the best reason to buy a new iPhone is because is because it’s an iPhone, explaining that “Apple only builds quality products that you’re always happy with.” We’re not sure if that’s entirely true. Cupertino’s definitely had a few misfires (think Apple Maps or Antennagate) but from what we’ve seen so far the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus look pretty great to us.
