Task management and productivity might not be guaranteed to give you goosebumps, but this newcomer has blazed ahead in the To-Do list arena, thanks to an elegant UI and faultless functionality.
Yes, it’s a To-do list app. And while it’s difficult to make what is essentially replacement for the Post-It Note or the biro on the back of the hand sexy, Wunderlist manages to do just that.
From the moment you fire it up, you can see that this is a beautifully designed app – it feels simple and elegant and intuitive enough that you don’t need to opt for the product walkthrough.
After choosing one of 12 backgrounds, simply start pouring out all the stuff that needs done in your life. Begin by creating lists for the different spheres of your life (work, DIY, shopping, holiday etc) and then a simple click will add tasks.
Each task can be assigned a date and you can supplement with notes, reminders or stars. You can then view your tasks in-list, by due date or by which are starred.
The Android widget means that you can view “today” tasks straight from your homescreen, and if you want to add a task, simply tap the “+” and you’ll be taken straight to the app.
Best of all, Wunderlist is cloud-based and cross-platform, meaning that one account will automatically sync with all your devices, be they iOS, Windows or Android. Our only minor gripe is that the big-brother app, Wunderkit, is not yet available for Android, but otherwise this is a seamless way to organise your life.
The Bottom Line
It’s difficult to make productivity apps sexy, but Wunderlist, ahem, ticks all the boxes.
