For most gamers, the Xbox One’s controller is something of a small miracle. It’s perfectly ergonomic, it has a nice heft to it, and it provides a terrific experience for long gaming marathons. But what if you want something more? How about that same controller, but completely customizable? Now you’re talking. But about that price…
Microsoft says the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller was designed “to meet the needs of today’s competitive gamers.” In that respect, it’s not really meant for someone who games a couple of times a week. But if you’re someone who really takes gaming seriously, the Elite Wireless is something to look into. Who knows: it might even help you elevate your CoD skills to an all-new level.
We explained what this controller is all about in the announcement post, but, basically, just about everything about it customizable. Like a finely tailored suit, you can tweak it exactly to your liking, giving you a tool that promises to elevate your gaming to the elite level. Want to change the thumbsticks? Done. And more.
“You’ll experience better control whether you play FPS, racing, fighting, or other genres,” Microsoft said.
In addition to being able to change the thumbsticks, you can also add four interchangeable paddles to the back, take advantage of the controller’s hair trigger locks, and re-map the buttons, allowing you to have a different experience for different games.
Of course, something like this doesn’t come cheap. At $149, it’s not exactly an impulse buy, but you do get a lot for your trouble. Every purchase includes an Elite Wireless Controller, carrying case, set of 4 paddles, set of 6 thumbsticks, set of 2 D-pads, USB cable and AA batteries. It also has a 3.5mm headset jack, so there’s that.
