Microsoft has announced the games included with Xbox Live Games with Gold for July. There are some pretty good games to look forward to and a new perspective on some older ones. Additionally, Xbox One’s lineup is expanding from one game per month to two moving forward.
On the Xbox One side, we’re going to be getting Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and So Many Me. The former is available all month while the latter goes live on July 15.
For Xbox 360, we’ll be able to add Plants vs. Zombies and Gears of War 3 to our libraries, with Plants available from July 1 to 15 and Gears active from July 15 through the end of the month.
Assassin’s Creed and Gears of War aren’t exactly new at this point, but they’re the kind of big, full games we look for with this service. And with Microsoft’s E3 show out of the way, the line-up looks very different. Backwards compatibility is coming to Xbox One. EA has already pledged support with some of their other titles. Gears of War is one of the biggest exclusives in the Xbox ecosystem. It’d be a surprise if we didn’t see these added to the backward compatibility library before too long.
Games with Gold has the potential to, if Microsoft can get the huge back catalog of Xbox 360 games added to the service, look totally different come this fall. Suddenly, users might be looking at a pile of games now playable on their Xbox One consoles that weren’t a couple weeks before.
