Microsoft’s initial launch of the Xbox One saw the next-gen console priced at $499. This made it more expensive than the Sony PlayStation 4 which was priced at $399, but Microsoft attempted to justify the price tag by claiming that it came with the Kinect bundled, which we guess made sense.
However we guess not everyone has need for the Kinect, which meant that gamers couldn’t justify paying the extra $100 for an accessory they would barely use. Microsoft then re-released the console sans Kinect priced at $399 and it seems that thanks to the price cut, sales of the console have increased, according to a recent talk attended by the folks at TrustedReviews.
During the talk, it was confirmed by Harvey Eagle, Microsoft’s Xbox Marketing Director, that momentum of the Xbox One has seen an increased since the console has had its price cut. According to Eagle, “Our momentum has really improved in the past weeks and months and we’re obviously really happy about that. And by momentum I mean sales”
