Monolith Soft’s mysterious X RPG for for the Wii U was finally granted a release date and a full title. Despite Nintendo stating a 2014 release earlier last month, Xenoblade Chronicles X is now rescheduled for release in 2015.
The title makes it the successor to the Wii game Xenoblade Chronicles. Fans of his cult hit will most likely recognize it for the massive price tag it comes along with these days rather than from actually playing it. It’s one of the rarer game of the last generation thanks to a limited run at Gamestop only, but its worth every penny.
Despite having the same name though, Xenoblade Chronicles X will not be a direct sequel or continue the original game’s plot in any way. This new game will take place on Earth after an intergalactic war between two alien races has ravaged the planet. Survivors live in small groups all over the globe, and they are forced to battle monsters and the elements or be wiped out.
Luckily, they have giant robots which help them do just that. Sign me up for such a useful tool in the post-apocalyptic world, please.
Check out 35 minutes of gameplay from the Nintendo Treehouse. This is far and away my most anticipated Wii U game at the moment since the console is just starving for a deep RPG experience. That new Zelda game Nintendo just unveiled though has me questioning the rankings though. We’ll see.
Xenoblade Chronicles X will be released exclusively for the Wii U in 2015.
