Xiaomi has surprised many people this year and announced quite a few devices in the first half of the year. The company has announced the Redmi 2, Redmi 2A, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, 2GB variant of Mi 4 and the Mi 4i in the last six months. This China-based smartphone OEM is trying to reach their goal for the year, and sell 80-100 million smartphones by the end of 2015. Xiaomi is still expected to announce a number of devices, the Redmi Note 2 and Mi 5, for example. While we’re waiting for the announcements of those two devices, the company has showcased a new variant of Mi 4i, read on.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i was announced back in April in India. This is the first Xiaomi-branded smartphone which was announced outside of China first, the company usually unveils all of its products in their homeland first, and then continues the rollout throughout Asia. That being said, the Mi 4i is a solid mid-range device which comes sporting a really appealing price point, it is priced at Rs. 12,999 ($205), which is not half bad considering the specs inside of this thing. Well, Xiaomi has announced the ‘Dark Grey’ variant of the Mi 4i in India. There’s basically no difference between the standard Mi 4i, and this new Dark Grey variant, except the color, of course. The phone will keep the Mi 4i’s price tag, and the registrations for the first flash sale are already in motion, and it seems like this handset will be available directly from mi.com/in/. Not one online retailer in India has released any availability info regarding this device, it is only listed on Xiaomi’s official website.
The Mi 4i Dark Grey edition features a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Sharp / JDI ‘Sunlight’ display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 64-bit octa-core processor, and it will ship with a 3,120mAh battery on the inside. The 13-megapixel camera (CMOS sensor) is located on the back of this handset, while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper available on its front side. The phone comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with Xiaomi’s MIUI 6 OS on top of Google’s offering. If you’d like to check out Mi 4i’s full specs, click here.
