Xioami Mi 5 is one of the best flagship devices in the market, but the availability of the device is a major concern. The device costs only half of what other flagships are priced, but waiting for flash sales is not everyone’s cup of tea. After unveiling the device in China and Barcelona simultaneously, it was first made available in China and was recently launched in India.
Unlike in China, Xiaomi had just launched the Mi 5 with curved back glass and that too only with the 32GB of storage. In China, both the glass and ceramic variants are launched with 3GB and 4GB RAM respectively. As of now, the device is available only in Black and White colors, but now the company has launched the Gold and Purple color variant with a textured back finish.
It comes with glass back and sports 3GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage. Earlier this week, the company launched the special edition Mi 5 in White color with glass back panel featuring 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The ceramic variant will be still available only in White and Black colors. Apart from the storage and RAM capacity, there will be no changes in the internals of the device.
It features the same 5.15-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 2.15GHz along with Adreno 530 GPU. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based MIUI 7 laid on top. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery along with Quick Charge 3.0 support. The device supports dual SIM with 4G LTE and VoLTE.
The Mi 5 sports a 16MP IMX298 sensor as the primary camera that features 4-axis OIS and PDAF. On the front is a 4MP ultrapixel camera that can capture better selfies even in low light conditions. The Physical home button on the front also houses the fingerprint sensor. Both these colors will be available via flash sales starting from April 29th in China. Stay tuned for more information!
