Xiaomi has, for the first time ever, decided to present something at the Mobile World Congress. This is actually the first time Xiaomi opted to hold a press conference at any of the big trade shows in the year, both CES and IFA included. Anyhow, the company has unveiled their new flagship, the Mi 5, during the MWC press conference. That handset is already on sale in China, and it will be coming to India later this month. We were wondering when will the phone roll out to other regions because Hugo Barra kind of suggested that might happen, even though he didn’t flat out say it.
That being said, the Mi 5 is not the only Xiaomi-branded handset that was announced recently, prior to their press conference, the company has announced the Mi 4S as well, a really solid mid-range offering by Xiaomi. Well, it seems like the European launch for these two smartphones might be closer than we think considering that both of them surfaced on Xiaomi’s website in Poland. The website more or less confirms that both of these smartphones will become available in Poland soon, and the memo even mentioned that pricing and timing info will be updated soon. Judging by the info on the site, all three XIaomi Mi 5 models might become available in the country, both variants (32GB and 64GB) of the Xiaomi Mi 5, and the premium Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro (4GB of RAM + 128GB of internal storage). Either way, we’ll make sure to let you know the moment we get more info, stay tuned.
The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes in two variants, as mentioned in the previous paragraph. The only difference between the Mi 5 and Mi 5 Pro lies in the amount of RAM and internal storage included. The Xiaomi Mi 5 ships in two variants (32GB and 64GB internal storage), both of which sport 3GB of RAM, while the Mi 5 Pro comes with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. The Xiaomi Mi 5 (all variants) feature a 5.15-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) IPS LCD display, and are fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor. The non-removable 3,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 is also included. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on Xiaomi’s Mi 5 smartphones, and on top of it, you’ll find the company’s Android-based MIUI 7 OS.
