As announced earlier, Xiaomi has officially launched its latest flagship Xiaomi Mi 5 here in India. The device was first launched in China on February 24th and is also showcased at the MWC 2016. Talking about the design, the Mi 5 comes with some improvements over the design of Mi Note that was launched exclusively for China. It sports a metal frame with curved glass on the back that attracts a lot of fingerprints.
Like other 2016 flagships, the Xiaomi Mi 5 comes powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It features a 5.15-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display while the other flagships are launched with Quad HD resolution displays. The device will be available with 3GB RAM and includes 32GB of built-in storage. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with latest MIUI 7 overlaid.
The device includes a 16MP rear camera with dual tone LED flash, PDAF, and 4-axis OIS. According to Xiaomi, the Mi 5 is the first smartphone to feature 4-axis OIS. For selfies, it has a 4MP ultra pixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture that can capture better selfies even in low-light conditions. The device supports dual SIM dual standby with the hybrid SIM slot where you can replace the second SIM with a MicroSD card. It is backed by a 3,000mAh and supports Quick Charge 3.0 for faster charging speeds.
The physical home button below the display also houses the fingerprint sensor. Along with the NFC, the device can be used for virtual payments. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS/A-GPS, and a USB Type-C Port. The device is priced at Rs.24,999 and the sale begins from April 6th via Xiaomi India’s online store.
