From the last couple of months, we have seen many leaks and rumors about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5. The official launch of the device is scheduled for the next week in China and simultaneously showcased at the MWC 2016. Though we already got most the details of the Xiaomi Mi 5 from different sources, now the leaked presentation slides give complete information regarding the Mi 5 specifications.
The first surprise from the slides is the presence of MicroSD card slot, since Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi speaking at the launch of Mi 4i said that the high-end devices from Xiaomi will not features. He also mentioned that it’s will be a trend, soon the MicroSD cards will disappear and also confirmed not to expect MicroSD card slot on their future flagships. While we don’t have any information regarding this, we need to wait till the official and see how the company justifies this move.
It offers dual SIM dual standby and supports 4G LTE on both the SIM’s. The NFC, which was missing on the recent devices, also found a place on this device that enables the device to use for virtual payments. Xiaomi seems to make the Mi 5 a perfect flagship by packing all the needy features; it also includes the IR blaster for controlling the TV, DVD, AC, and many others. According to the leaked data, it can be used to control more than 2000 products under 10 categories.
The design of the device looks same as in the earlier leaked images with rounded corners and a physical home button. It features a 5.2-inch Full HD display which we expect to be an AMOLED display. Under the hood will be the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. It comes in two variants with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage.
Few other differences can be spotted in the camera department, where the 3GB variant comes with 16MP rear camera sensor and the 4GB variant sports a 26MP camera with PDAF and an aperture of f/1.6 that can capture better images even in low light conditions. It is backed by a 3,000mAh with Quick Charge 3.0 for better battery life.
The stereo speakers can be found on the bottom edge of the device along with the USB Type-C port that supports USB 3.0 for faster data transfer speeds and fast charging. While the device will be launched on February 24th, it will be available to purchase starting from February 26th. Stay tuned for more updates!
