Earlier this Summer, the Xiaomi Redmi 6, Xiaomi Redmi 6A, and Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro were launched. However, the phones were not available in India. Today, that finally changes. All three devices will be available in the next couple of weeks. Take a look at all three models compared side-by-side in the specification chart below. There are a lot of similarities, but several key differentiators.
Xiaomi Redmi 6 Specifications, Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 has a traditional design that is becoming rare in 2018. There are bezels on the top and bottom of the display, but nothing too insane. The back of the device has a fingerprint scanner and the dual cameras. It’s a nice looking phone even if it doesn’t have any of the trendy 2018 design choices.
Speaking of the display, it’s 5.45-inches with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The resolution is 1440×720. Inside the device is the MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, and a 3,000 mAh battery. The dual cameras on the back are 12 and 5MP. Xiaomi has included PDAF, EIS, and AI-infused portrait mode. The front 5MP camera also has portrait mode. Out of the box, the phone is running Android Oreo with MIUI 9.6, but Xiaomi says it will be upgraded to MIUI 10.
The Redmi 6 will be available in India on September 10th. The 3GB + 32GB variant will be priced at INR 7,999 and 3GB + 64GB variant will be priced at INR 9,499. It will be sold at Mi.com and Flipkart.com. These are introductory prices for 2 months. The phone will be available in four colors: Black, Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold
Redmi 6 Pro Specifications, Pricing, and Availability
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro does feature the design decisions you would expect to see in a 2018 phone. The 5.84-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio features a notch on the top. There is also a chin on the bottom bezel. The back of the phone has the fingerprint scanner and the dual cameras in a vertical orientation.
Powering this phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, 3 or 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB of storage, and a beefy 4,000 mAh battery. The dual cameras are the same as the Redmi 6: 12 and 5MP with included PDAF, EIS, and AI-infused portrait mode. The front 5MP camera also has portrait mode. Again, the phone is running Android Oreo with MIUI 9.6, but Xiaomi says it will be upgraded to MIUI 10.
The 3GB + 32GB model is priced at INR 10,999 and the 4GB + 64GB variant is priced at INR 12,999. Xiaomi will start selling the device on September 11th at Mi.com and Amazon.com. The Redmi 6 Pro is available in four colors: Black, Gold, Blue, and Red.
Redmi 6A Specifications, Pricing, and Availability
Last, but not least, is the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. The design of the Redmi 6A is very similar to the Redmi 6. It does not have a display notch and there is only one camera on the back. The display is also exactly the same: 5.45-inches with 18:9 aspect ratio and 1440×720 resolution. One difference from the outside is the lack of a fingerprint scanner on the back.
Powering the Redmi 6A is the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC. Xiaomi says this is the only phone in this segment with a 12nm processor. Also inside is 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of storage, and a 3,000 mAh battery. Unlike the other Redmi 6 devices, the Redmi 6A only has one camera on the back: it’s 13MP with PDAF and EIS. AI Portrait Mode is included as well and also on the 5MP front camera. Just like the previous two phones, the Redmi 6A is running Android Oreo with MIUI 9.6, but Xiaomi says it will be upgraded to MIUI 10.
The Xiaomi Redmi 6A 2GB + 16GB model will be priced at INR 5,999 and the 2GB + 32GB model is INR 6,999. These prices will increase after 2 months. They go on sale at Mi.com and Amazon.com starting September 19th. It will be available in Black, Blue, Gold, and Rose Gold.
