India is seeing massive development and traction in two distinct industries, smartphones and football. In terms of smartphones, India is quickly establishing itself as one of the primary and largest emerging markets with a very large level of growth expected in the future. In terms of football, India is seeing its interest in football increasingly growing. As such, a lot of sponsorship and funding has been put into the newly developed Hero Indian Super League. That said, the country has always contained a very active English Premier League (EPL) following. As a result, it was not too surprising when Indian smartphone manufacturer, Xolo, teamed up with Liverpool back in early 2014 and commenced a three-year marketing partnership.
One of the early announcements of the new partnership was that Xolo intended to release a joint branded Xolo/Liverpool handset at some point in the future. Well, it looks like that time has now come as Xolo have now launched a Liverpool themed Xolo One handset in India. The Xolo One was originally released in India back in October of last year and was expected to be a price competitor for Android One. While being priced in the same region as Android One, the Xolo One instead came running on Android 4.4 (KitKat) and has since, even seen an update to Android 5.0 (Lollipop).
While the specs of the device remain the same and the Liverpool variant comes shipping with Lollipop, it is the aesthetic changes to the device which will be the big selling points to Liverpool fans. The Liverpool Xolo One comes with a clear and distinct Liverpool logo (including Liver bird) on the back of the device. Not to mention, the device has been customized to include Liverpool wallpapers straight out of the box. In terms of the true customization fans, the new Liverpool version is reported to come with its own Liverpool boot animation too. However, it is not just the phone which has seen a Liverpool injection as the charger also now comes with a much redesigned Liverpool overhaul. For those interested, the Liverpool variant of the Xolo One is now available although it is exclusive to Snapdeal and priced at Rs 6,599, roughly around the $100 marker.
