Xperia X Compact benchmark reveals powerful hardware in a small frame

Last week, we got a look at the Xperia X Compact, which Sony is expected to reveal at IFA 2016. Now it looks like the device’s specs may have been spilled as well after passing through benchmarking site GFXBench (via Telefoonabonnement).
The Xperia X Compact appears to be a pretty powerful device, packing a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM into a small 4.6-inch frame. The device also sports a 1080p resolution display, a 16-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and 64GB of storage. It’s running Android Marshmallow software.
Sony could also unveil a flagship Xperia XR alongside the smaller Xperia X Compact. The Xperia XR (possibly called the ZR instead), allegedly packs a 5.2-inch display, a 23-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel front-facing shooter. It should offer the same Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM found on the Compact model.
Considering Sony’s smartphone history, you can expect a sleek industrial design and a high price to match. The company is expected to reveal the latest Xperia devices this week at IFA and we’ll be there covering all the new gadgets announced at the Berlin trade show. So stay tuned!
