Now that the bulk of Android 4.3 firmware updates are out of the way (we’re still to hear news on the update cycle for the Xperia C, L and M), attention will soon turn to the timing of Android KitKat updates. Sony has already confirmed a selection of handsets to receive the update including the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 (the Xperia Z1 Compact is also likely to receive it too).
Therefore the timing is probably about right to see Android 4.4 KitKat firmware being tested by carriers. Vodafone Australia has confirmed that testing is scheduled for the Xperia Z KitKat update. However, we still have no further timelines for now. We would expect Sony to formally announce KitKat timings within the next few weeks, so we’ll keep you posted.
