Sony Mobile used to include a pre-applied anti-shatter film to its smartphones up until early last year. This used to frustrate owners given that the anti-shatter film would scratch easily. The Sony Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet were the first devices to not include the film much to the delight of owners, allowing them to choose their own solutions if needed.
Well it looks like Sony is up to its old tricks again, as it includes a pre-applied screen protector for the Xperia Z3+. Android Central reports that this film is badly fitted and lacks any oleophobic coating, which means lots of smudges. It’s not all bad news though as this is not the same anti-shatter film from the past, it is a simple screen protector that can be easily removed. Sony advises users to keep the protector on, as can be seen in the excerpt from the user guide below. However, some owners are likely to want to remove it as soon as they get hands on.
