Have you been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Sony Xperia Z6? Well the wait is over, because it's never coming out. Except it is, only it will be called the Sony Xperia X Performance. This new top-of-the-range device is the one on which Sony has decided to focus its energy, and it's a case of the emperor's new clothes.
Augusto Zumbo, SEM (South Eastern Mediterranean) Country Manager for Sony, has confirmed that the company has decided to carry out "silent" a rebranding, changing the name of its Z line to a brand new letter of the alphabet, the mysterious and illusory X. The Sony Xperia X Performance is the new flagship in this range.
As a top-of-the-range device, the Xperia X Performance will offer a Snapdragon 820 processor and a 2,700-mAh battery, which is smaller in size than the 2,900 mAh offered by the Z5, although Sony is touting a two-day battery life thanks to enhanced power management, although we've heard that story before. It also offers water-resistance certification, as is Sony's style.

In the camera department, we're looking at 23 MP on the rear camera and 13 MP in the front. It will have a 5-inch, curved Full HD screen and 3 GB of RAM.
The device is not ready, and, as such, I was unable to test one out here at WMC, but Augusto Zumbo assured me it is likely to arrive in the summer.
As you can see from the images of the device, the design is almost the same as that sported by Z5. The only change that is immediately evident is the curved design along the edges of the display.
As Augusto Zumbo stated during our interview, the Japanese brand continues to focus on quality and winning design by focusing on one particular element: the range of colors the device comes in.
The new X line, then, takes the place of the much-loved Z series, but does so in silently, continuing to offer new devices that, from generation to generation, attempt to better themselves internally while maintaining a consistent look.
Are you ready to welcome the new Sony Xperia Z6 in disguise?
