Googles YouTube video service is easily the top place to see all of the latest and greatest video content. But its not exactly an ideal location for kids to exploreby themselves.
A new app is looking to change that, though. Aptly named YouTube Kids, Google designed the title from the ground up with children in mind.
The kid-friendly design is easy to navigate and allows children to view channels and playlists in four difference categories: Shows, Music, Learning, and Explore.
It also focuses on providing family-friendly content from a huge number of sources like Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, National Geographic Kids, and many more.
Heres a quick video about the app. Click here if you cant see it.
The parental settings are also a wonderful idea. A built-in timer can limit childrens screen time. Parents can also limit children to viewing just the curated videos by turning off the search functionality.
As a father of two young children, Im thrilled to see YouTube Kids arrive for the iPhone and iPad. Both my son and daughter enjoy watching the wonderful kid-friendly content on the service, and Im glad they can do that in an environment designed for them.
If youre interested, Twitter-owned Vine recently released a similar app Vine Kids. The easy-to-navigate app also provides curated content for younger video viewers.
