A new leak from China has revealed the potential successor of the ZTE Nubia Z7 smartphone. Known as the Nubia Z9, the two images shown in the leak appear to have a very slim profile with barely distinguishable side bezels. The iconic red home button is also visible here, confirming that this is indeed a ZTE Nubia series handset.
Hardware details are scarce, so these images are all we have to go with at the moment. But the leakster has mentioned that the smartphone will break cover before the end of the year through China’s largest online retailer JingDong Mall.
The ZTE Nubia Z7 was launched only a few months ago with a pretty capable specs sheet including a 5.5 inch Quad HD display and a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization. So it will be interesting to see how ZTE will upgrade the Nubia Z9. Perhaps ZTE will upgrade the chipset to Snapdragon 805 as the Nubia N7 was sporting a Snapdragon 801 silicon.
Although the initial launch will be limited to China, we can’t rule out a global launch at this point given ZTE’s ambitions to break into major world markets. We’ll keep a close eye for any reports or leaks about the Nubia Z9.
