After having announced their first smartwatch, the ZTE Quartz is now available for purchase at T-Mobile. The ZTE Quartz is priced at either $192 outright or $8/month for 24 months and $0 down. That makes it one of the cheapest Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches on the market right now. And since it is being sold at T-Mobile (no other carriers have picked it up just yet), it does have support for magenta’s 4G LTE network. In addition to cellular connectivity, it does also connect via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, to pair with your smartphone.
The ZTE Quartz does use Android Wear 2.0 as its operating system, which means that you’ll be able to use all of your favorite Android apps like Evernote, Google Keep, Todoist and many more, on your wrist. And with Android Wear 2.0, you also have the Google Assistant on your wrist. The ZTE Quartz does have a heart-rate monitor built in, making it easy for it to track your activity using Google Fit. ZTE quotes that the Quartz can last up to 2 days on standby, but it’ll still only last around a day, of course this all depends on your usage of the ZTE Quartz. There’s also 4GB of storage included here, so that you are able to save music from Google Play Music offline and play when you are not connected to Wi-Fi without using up your precious 4G LTE data (it also saves on the battery). Speaking of which, the battery is a 500mAh battery pack.
Before it was announced, the ZTE Quartz was long rumored, and leaked out quite a few times. Now it’s finally available, and it’s a bit interesting that the company is only selling it at T-Mobile. They aren’t even offering an unlocked or even a Wi-Fi only model through their other retail partners. For a 4G LTE smartwatch, being sub-$200 is actually a pretty good deal, especially since this is a pretty decent looking smartwatch anyways. You can pick up the ZTE Quartz from T-Mobile using the link below. If you are a current customer, you can add the ZTE Quartz to your plan for just $5/month and you’ll get unlimited data thanks to T-Mobile ONE. Which is the only way to get unlimited data on your smartwatch.
