It’s mid-June, it’s raining and it’s the weekend – it’s time for the Life of Android Top Five Apps of the Week!

Yes, summer may have spectularly failed to turn up once again this week, but Android has delivered once more with five fun and fact packed days of news, views and reviews. Sadly, no gnus.

Kicking off with kindness on the harshest day of the working week, Monday nursed us into the office with tell of the British Red Cross’s lifesaving First Aid app hitting a worthy 250,000 downloads, whilst Tuesday helped to boost that difficult second-day morale with a double-whammy of a flat denial from Android authority, Andy Rubin, that he was planning on leaving the Halls of Google and an announcement that activations had hit 900,00 per day. Wednesday returned us to tales of Max Payne mobile, the avenging app that was promised back in April finally making its overdue debut the following day… and this time it was true! TV was the theme on Thursday as we got our hands on a telescopic aerial and app package from Tivizen that puts full Freeview TV on your phone or tablet, before Friday whipped us up into a frenzy for the weekend with the release of the official The Dark Knight Rises app trailer. All of which combines to form possibly the newsiest Android news ever newsed.

All facted out? Here, it’s time to play…

    Elastic World

There are countless apps out there that claim to immerse you in a world of ‘physics-based’ gaming, often with varying, sometimes baffling, ideas of what actually quantifies real-world physics. But the latest addition to the Einstein-favouring Android app-iverse certainly doesn’t stretch the rules. Welcome to Elastic World…

    Songkick Concerts

If you like your music and you like your music live, then rejoice as the second largest live music website in the world makes its way onto Android, bringing with it a cacophony of concerts and a googolplex of gigs…

    Piranha 3DD

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water… Yes, first came the film, introducing audiences worldwide to three dimensional flesh-eating fish and finally answering the question: what would a bikini-clad Kelly Brook look like in 3D? Now comes the game, but in a move as delightful as the aforementioned answer, you play the piranha…

    Magic Piano

Long before the home entertainment zenith of the invention of TV and the subsequent nadir of the invention of Channel 5, families would make their own amusement by gathering in the parlour around the ‘Old Joanna’ and belting out a few hymns. Fortunately, those dark days are long gone, but if you fancy a go at tickling the ivories for old time’s sake, the latest addition to the Android app army is just the thing: Magic Piano…

    Max Payne Mobile

It’s the age old story of boy cop meets girl, boy cop marries girl, girl has baby, boy cop crosses the mob, mob murders girl, baby and boy cop’s partner, boy cop gets framed and goes on the run determined to hunt down the truth and those who did him wrong in a blurry, neo-noir explosion of sideways jumping, dual-gun firing, bloody psychotic violence. A classic…
